Check in at Riverside Park or the BV Community Center from 8:30-9:30am to get trash bags and to sign up for a location.

What should folks bring or expect: Distance: 3 mile walk in, 3 mile walk out
Type of trail: GravelThings you might see include: various waterfowl, predatory birds, various mammals and reptiles.
What should you wear / bring: Comfortable walking/hiking shoes and clothing. Hat or sunglasses (optional), sunscreen, bug spray and water.
Event will be held at the South Trail. Meet at the East Trail parking lot off of County Road 33.

Guided Bird Walk: Carpenter Peak
This Event is Called: Guided bird walk
This Event is : Grab your bird book and binoculars and join us for bird watching adventures.
What should folks bring or expect: The May walk is to Carpenter Peak which is a more strenuous trail (6.2 miles). We will look for migrant birds and hope to hear and possibly see Ovenbirds as they set up their nesting territories. Bring plenty of water and snacks as this will be a longer walk than usual. Dress for changing weather conditions. Registration required and meeting location is at the Visitor Center patio.

This Event is : This skills training is designed for volunteer trail stewards and crew leaders who want to take an active role in maintaining and protecting mountain biking trails in Huerfano and Las Animas Counties.
What should folks bring or expect: Lathrop has partnered with La Veta Trails and Trinidad Trails Alliance to provide trail maintenance and restoration training prior to our National Trails Day Trail Work on Saturday, June 7th.
This skills training is designed for volunteer trail stewards and crew leaders who want to take an active role in maintaining and protecting mountain biking trails in Huerfano and Las Animas Counties. Well-maintained trails don’t happen by accident—they rely on passionate volunteers who help keep them safe, sustainable, and accessible for everyone. We are thrilled to have Jenn Green with the Trinidad Trails Alliance deliver the training. Lunch will be provided. Free!

Fountain Creek Clean-up
This Event is Called: Fountain Creek Clean-up, Colorado Public Lands Day
This Event is : As part of Colorado Public Lands Day, May 17th, Wild Connections and the Pikes Peak Sierra Club Group invite you to join them for a cleanup of the Sierra Club’s Adopt-A-Waterway section of Fountain Creek, adjacent to El Pomar Youth Sports Center along the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail in Colorado Springs.
What should folks bring or expect: Dress for the weather, including work gloves, long pants, and sturdy shoes or boots. Wear sunscreen & bring drinking water.

This Event is : Join the Continental Divide Trail Coalition‘s Colorado staff for a hike and cleanup day along the CDT as part of CDTC’s Birthday Bash on May 21st at 2:30pm.
What should folks bring or expect: The hiking portion and trailhead cleanup will be weather dependent based on trail conditions, but it will be designed for people of all ability levels to participate.
